Shell-Reference model-Architecture

Taking off

This tale of survival through the composition of objects not only the physical construction of space through an unconventional medium, but also how the characteristics and capabilities of its makers allow it to take is specific form. These“enclave of objects” edges on the temporary in its ability to be continually transfigured and recomposed though its representation of the personalities of its users through their inventive composition of personal and found objects suggests an immense permanence. Either way, through an architecture of objects, the characters have the freedom to create a physical and spatial interpretation of themselves.

Reshaped the metal to fit over the Acrylic model.

Use of the compression tool, which uses teeth to hold onto the sheet metal and press it together, compressing it and allowing it to be curved.

Rolling and polishing.

The skin is close to the final result!

Laser Cutting-The VLS 3.50

VLS-desktop lasers

The VLS 2.30 and 3.50 desktop lasers are the easiest ways to get started with laser technology. Roughly the size of a printer, a VLS desktop laser packs sophisticated laser processing capabilities into an attractive, durable package. An optional computer-controlled air cleaner cart is available that allows a VLS desktop laser to be used without a dedicated exhaust system, making installation and operation even simpler. The ease of use and small footprint of the VLS desktop laser makes it easy to fit laser technology into your business, whatever it might be.

Laser Technology Benefits

Software Controlled - The laser can be controlled by any software with a print function. Multi-Material - Process an endless number of materials available today and in the future. Multi-Process - Cut, engrave, mark, and produce photo images in one step.
Non Contact - Modify material without applying any physical force.
On Demand - Produce everything you need in real time, without waiting for hard tooling.

Laser Cutting AI

Laser Cutting

Upon finishing the 123D Make process the file was exported as an Adobe Illustrator File, where all the line weights and colors were changed, as the program be default, exported cuts as blue and indents as red.
The line weight for the fab lab laser cut machine is smaller than 0.001mm and the color should be red (255,0,0). Then the file can be used to laser cut.

Meshmixer

Meshmixer

Its been a pretty easy workflow with the new improvements to the "Make Solid" tool. Now, not only are mixed up objects magically turned into one 3d printable object, but also the colors are preserved! By the way, it is pretty easy to import the captures from my 123D account within Meshmixer by clicking 123D. I'm going to print this guy in color and see how he holds together...

Make Solid can now bake uv/vertex colors to vertex colors of new mesh
New region-growing capability in Selection tool
Pivot improvements (.mix import, duplicating linked pivots, new Create modes)
Many bugfixes! (texture support, vertex color painting, remeshing, ...)

Scanning the Object (123D Catch)

Scanning the Object (123D Catch)

Step 1: Download 123D Catch from your iphone appstore
Step 2: Open the app, sign in using Autodesk account and taking photos of your object.
Tip!:For best result, add sticky notes around subject.
Step 3: Upload your photos to the cloud to create 3D model.(3D model will be saved to storage space.
Step 4: Clean up and heal your model for fabrication in Meshmixer.

Concept-Reality

Concept-Reality

Kunsthaus Graz, by Peter Cook and Colin Fournier

The BIX Façade of the museum represents a singular fusion from architecture and New Media and is based on a concept of the Berliner architects realities:united. BIX, a name which consists of the words "Big" and "pixels" is the acrylic glass skin of the eastern side of the building toward the Mur and city center and represents an oversize urban screen, which serves as an instrument for artistic productions.

The variation of forms, functions, textures and life – cycles that different object embody, provides an endless and complex palette of materials that far exceeds the limitations of the typical wall, roof and floor. The resulting space may maximise these embodied qualities and/ or subvert the meaningsof the objects to suit the new environment. Therefore, when objects are implanted into spaces to which they do not naturally belong and to which they appear alien, new rhythms and established as the new existing adapt and transform in order to co-exist.

Concept-Chosen Object

Concept

The aesthetic of the black shapes is consequent procedure of subjective thoughts. Everything you see can be explored by the abstract. Objects are being transformed in to black shapes, while the function is maintained.

To extract an object from its original meaning by making it a building both changes one’ attitude toward the object and the building.

Could it be possible that spaces made of specifically selected collections of objects of objects could lead to an entirely personalised environment perhaps- and dare I say it – negating the need for the so called architect?

Spaces that take their form from objects rather than the traditional enclosure or boundary suggest transformation, tactility and subversion. The human qualities of objects provides a medium that can be easily handled and recomposed making the creation of the space as important as the space itself.
